Be All YouCan Be.And More.
The United States Army is the backbone of American defense. Over 450,000 soldiers strong, serving in more than 150 career fields across every continent on earth. Your chapter starts here.
From Bunker Hill to Every Corner of the Globe
Every soldier inherits this legacy. Every generation adds to it. This is the story you are about to join.
The Continental Army
Cambridge, Massachusetts
On June 14, 1775, the Second Continental Congress establishes the Continental Army and appoints George Washington as its commanding general. Farmers, blacksmiths, and tradesmen take up arms against the most powerful military on earth. They win.
Loyalty. Duty. Respect. Service.
The Army Values spell out LDRSHIP: Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage. These four pillars define what it means to wear the uniform every day.
LOYALTY
Bear true faith and allegiance
Loyalty is the foundation of trust. Bear true faith and allegiance to the U.S. Constitution, the Army, your unit, and fellow soldiers. Stand by them in good times and bad. Loyalty binds the force together when everything else falls apart.
DUTY
Fulfill your obligations
Duty means more than completing assigned tasks. It means being able to accomplish those tasks as part of a team. Carry out the full scope of your responsibilities to the best of your ability every single day, not because someone is watching, but because the mission depends on it.
RESPECT
Treat people as they should be treated
Respect begins with treating every person with dignity and worth. In the Army, you will work alongside soldiers from every walk of life. Rely on the golden rule. Recognize the contributions of everyone on the team, because strength comes from diversity.
SELFLESS SERVICE
Put the welfare of the nation first
Put the welfare of the nation, the Army, and your subordinates before your own. Selfless service is not about you. It is about the larger cause. Every soldier takes an oath to serve something greater than themselves, and that oath defines every action.
Find Your Mission
The Army offers more career paths than any other branch. From frontline combat roles to cutting-edge cyber warfare, your MOS is your identity and your future.
Infantryman
The Backbone of the Army
Close with the enemy by means of fire and movement to destroy or capture them, or to repel their assault by fire, close combat, and counterattack. The infantryman is the soldier the Army is built around.
Combat Medic
The Soldier's Lifeline
Provide emergency medical treatment on the battlefield and in garrison. Combat Medics are the most trusted soldiers in any platoon. They run toward the gunfire when everyone else takes cover, because someone is counting on them.
Military Intelligence Analyst
Know the Enemy
Produce intelligence by studying all available information. Identify enemy order of battle, capabilities, and vulnerabilities. Your analysis shapes the commander's decisions and saves lives before the fight even begins.
Cyber Operations Specialist
Digital Battlefield Dominance
Conduct offensive and defensive cyberspace operations. Penetrate enemy networks, protect friendly systems, and operate in the domain where modern conflicts are won before a single round is fired. One of the fastest-growing fields in the military.
Aviation
Own the Sky
Maintain, repair, and crew the most advanced rotary-wing aircraft in the world. From Apache attack helicopters to Black Hawks, Army Aviation delivers decisive firepower, rapid mobility, and reconnaissance across the full spectrum of operations.
Combat Engineer
Build. Breach. Destroy.
Construct fighting positions, fixed and floating bridges, obstacles, and defensive works. Breach enemy fortifications with explosives. Clear minefields. Combat Engineers shape the battlefield itself, making the impossible route passable.
Basic Combat Training
Ten weeks at Fort Jackson (SC), Fort Moore (GA), Fort Leonard Wood (MO), or Fort Sill (OK). Three phases. One transformation. You arrive as a civilian. You leave as a United States Army soldier.
Red Phase: Patriot
Total immersion. Reception, in-processing, and the shock of transformation. Drill sergeants establish discipline from day one. Trainees learn Army core values, basic first aid, land navigation fundamentals, and begin physical conditioning. This is where civilians start becoming soldiers.
